I was reminded about the power of service trips today when I received an email from JS about her border trip. I’ve been hearing about this organization for quite some time now and thought the time was ripe to share it with you. Global Volunteers was started 1984 as a non-profit that provides short-term, engaging volunteer vacations. Couple of my favorite things about the organization: It’s a MN-based non-profit, they do trips in every month of the year and they have locations spanning the globe. Some of the different types of things you could do on vacation are: Teach English, Care for at-risk children, Repair Buildings, Work with young children, Work with teens or the elderly. The options are endless and the organization will even assist you with fundraising the cost of the trip! Pretty cool concept – could be a great substitute for the trip to Mexico’s beaches. Check out their website for more details! I did two service trips in College and they were absolutely life-changing. Perhaps this is exactly what you need in your life right now in these tough times to remind you of all the blessings you do have!
