Oh my gosh. This site was made for me- I can’t believe I didn’t know about it until now! Let me introduce- SMARTY PIG.COM. This FREE site encourages saving for specific goals IN ADVANCE. All you do is tell them what you’re saving for and when you want to reach that goal and PRESTO– they’ll tell you what automatic deposit to make from your checking account each month!
Here’s what you do:
1. Identify your goal and the date you want it by
2. Use their tools to calculate the auto-withdrawal
3. Set up a FDIC insured savings account with smartypig that earns you 3.9% on your money.
4. Tell friends and family about your goal by adding a SmartyPig widget to your facebook, myspace page or blog.
5. Allow family and friends to donate to the goal for your birthday gift, Xmas or some special day you create to get donations!
6. Track your progress!
7. Reach your goal and transfer the savings back to your checking account.
It seems so simple, doesn’t it? Why weren’t any of these ideas put into place long ago?? There is money out there waiting to be made people!
