Hello dear readers – Have you ever had the experience of planning something several months out and thinking it’s totally manageable . . . until it’s actually upon you and you’re like “OMG, WTF was I thinking?!?!” I’m having one of those moments right now. I way overestimated my capacity on this one and my mind won’t focus on all the things I need to do (which is obviously why I’m procrastinating and writing to you instead). And please, for the love of God, make my husband stop asking me questions about the weekend because I can only seem to deal with the day at hand . . .
Here’s a little bit clearer picture of what I’m juggling at the moment. May began with a move to my in-laws’ house after spending the spring in our lovely rental house. Those two weeks gave us the chance to get our things reorganized (everything we own is either in their basement or 2nd level right now). It’s a mess, but an organized one! In fact, when my family inevitably asks me where X is, 90% of the time I can guess the correct box (out of 40 or so) on the first try! Impressive, no? :) However, we didn’t have long to settle in there because yesterday we transitioned to an AirBnb that we’re renting while my parents are here!

That’s right! My parents are visiting Bend for the very first time and we’re so excited to host them. We plan to show them all our favorites things around town (if the weather cooperates!). But the main reason they’re coming is to see me sing in with my choir . . .

and see Nia perform in her second ever musical, Mean Girls!

They arrive tomorrow at lunchtime and it’ll be non-stop activity until they leave at noon on Monday. Unfortunately, Nick will be doing much of the hosting since Nia has five performances and I have a dress rehearsal and two concerts between Friday and Sunday. In between performing, socializing, and sightseeing I also need to find a few spare minutes to finish packing for our cruise because we head to the airport with them Monday morning to depart on our British Isles Cruise. Seriously, what were we thinking!?

This is an adults-only trip, so Nia will be staying behind to finish up her last few weeks of school. We don’t feel too bad for her, however, because in early June she embarks on a a big trip of her own! More to come on that. I’ll also do my best to give a recap of how the weekend goes. Stay tuned . . .
PS – It is rumored that there will be a livestream of my concert on the Cascade Chorale’s Facebook Page. Concerts will take place on Saturday at 7 PM PST/9 PM CST/10 PM EST and Sunday at 3 PM PST/5 PM CST/6 PM EST. It’s a wonderful, upbeat mix of tunes (Broadway, Country, Pop, and Spirituals) so I hope some of you can watch if the tech piece works out.
